Zehr Group served as General Contractor for base building and interior fit-outs at 117 King Street West and the adjacent Simpson Block in Kitchener, supporting the adaptive reuse of historic downtown properties into modern commercial office space.
The Simpson Block, located at 115–119 King Street West, was originally constructed in 1895 as the home of William Simpson’s furniture factory and retail store. As part of its transformation, the heritage structure was carefully redeveloped to accommodate contemporary office uses while preserving its defining architectural character. The four-storey brick-and-beam building retains features such as exposed brick walls, open ceilings, and restored arched windows that reflect the building’s historic craftsmanship.
Zehr Group was contracted to complete the base building construction and interior fit-outs, coordinating the integration of modern building systems within the preserved heritage framework. Through this work, our team helped bring new life to these historic downtown spaces while maintaining the architectural integrity that contributes to Kitchener’s evolving urban core.
